Bradgate Park was first enclosed as a deer park around 800 years ago. Lady Jane Grey, the nine days queen, was born at Bradgate House in 1537. In 1925 Leicestershire County Council lacked the funds to buy the parkland from the Grey family. Charles Bennion (British United Shoe Machines) bought the estate in 1928 and gave it to the people of Leicestershire, just in the nick of time as he died the following year.

People can stick to the paths or roam at will.
Leicestershire County Council have five country parks, the one at Market Bosworth is 86 acres of the former deer park belonging to Bosworth Hall.
