Live theatre is such an important part of our cultural heritage, irrespective of whether the performers are a local amateur group or professionals on a long run. Very often the theatre buildings are themselves bastions of history.
The Century Theatre was built in 1952 on ex-RAF lorries it then toured the UK as a mobile theatre. From 1974 to 1995 it was sited at Keswick. Leicestershire Museums Service bought the theatre in 1996 and moved it to what is now Snibston Colliery Park. In addition to the many shows I have attended scores of film nights.

The Curve Theatre was opened by the Queen in 2008. Unlike any other theatre in the UK, there is not a traditional backstage area. Audiences can enjoy the full theatre making process, peek behind the scenes and maybe even spot an actor or two dashing from the stage to their dressing room or enjoying a coffee in the Café. The curved façade is made from 1,192 tonnes of steel and 46000m² of glass.
